Via Hofgeismar, the Sleeping Beauty castle of Sababurg in the Reinhardswald forest and Trendelburg with its castle of the same name, you will arrive in Bad Karlshafen. Along the Weser River you will continue your journey to Hann. Münden, a city known for its half-timbered houses. You will return to Kassel via the idyllic Fulda Valley.
The cherry town of Witzenhausen, the historic bathing resort of Bad Sooden-Allendorf with its salt museum as well as Eschwege, Hessisch Lichtenau and Großalmerode are all in the catchment area of the Hoher Meißner mountain. This trip to “the world of mother Hulda” makes for a diverse tour through the valleys and hilltops of this region and along the Werra River.
The first stops on this round trip is the Bartenwetzer town of Melsungen, Morschen with the former Haydau monestary, and Schwalmstadt, where a visit to the folklore museum of the Schwalm in the city's Ziegenhain neighbourhood will be the first highlight of many on this trip. A walk through the medieval emperor's and cathedral town of Fritzlar makes for an impressive conclusion of the trip on your way back to Kassel.
Through meadows, fields and forests, you will reach Waldeck by way of Wolfhagen and Naumburg. From the castle of the same name, you will enjoy breath-taking panoramic views across the Edersee lake. Following this, you will make a stop at the dam wall, before you return to the empire of the "Chatti" via Fritzlar and Gudensberg and back to Kassel. Upon request, a cruise of the Edersee lake may also be part of this trip
This tour is a journey into the history of North Hesse. You will visit the Huguenot settlements of Mariendorf, Carlsdorf, Schöneberg and Bad Karlshafen. This is where you will be taken on a tour of the Huguenot museum. Following a short tour of the city, your route will continue to the idyllic valleys of the Weser and Fulda rivers and back to Kassel. On this eight-hour tour, you will finish the day with a historically themed tour of Kassel and a visit to the city museum.
